Beginners Photography Course - Saturday 11th January 2025 - 9am - 1pm - 4/4 places available.
This is a multi skilled course designed to take you from being a complete beginner to making photographs successfully and on the way to creating a work of art within a very short time!
This amazing course is taught in three sections:
The class is set out as follows:
Technical Session - Learn how a camera records a photograph, how to see, read and measure the light, shooting in RAW format and in manual mode, using the exposure triangle, operating the shutter speed, aperture and ISO and how each one affects the photograph and what you can do with these to change the creative format of your photographs.
Practical Photography - We will head outside to a location that offers all kinds of scenes where you can practice shooting in manual mode, which is how you take complete creative control over the production of a photograph. I will teach you the basics of professional composition and explain how to bring the technical side together with the creative side. You’ll learn in a real world situation how to balance the exposure, ISO and Aperture and produce a collection of photographs.
Post-production taster session - Complete the cycle of creating a photograph, with the post-production taster session, where we’ll upload your photographs and go through the best and I will explain what works, what doesn’t and why. Then I’ll give you a demonstration of how you can totally transform your photograph in to a finished work of art. The camera never gives you what you can see with your eyes and this process enables you to create artwork beyond your imagination.
On this workshop you will learn the following:
How to set up and use your DSLR
Seeing, reading and measuring the light
Creating a balanced exposure using manual controls
Designing a professional composition
Post production using Adobe Lightroom.
I guarantee immediate results and will ensure you’ll leave this course with a new level of confidence and huge set of skills to take away with you to practice in your own time.

Cancellation policy and refunds policy in additional info…
Cancellation and Refund Policy
It may never happen but I may need to cancel the workshop for an emergency in any event and I have the right to do so but should I cancel a workshop that you’ve booked, you will either be given a full refund or offered a space on an alternative workshop or different date.
Should you wish to cancel, please do so in writing by email to paul@paulhands.co.uk
Please give ay least 7 days notice, enabling me to reallocate your space before the commencement of the workshop.
If giving less than 7 days notice, a refund of 50% is available.
Your refund of 50% can be reallocated towards booking on to another workshop by signalling this at the time of cancellation.
If giving less than 48 hours notice, no refund is available and rebooking on to another workshop would be welcomed.
Can I transfer my place to another workshop date?
Yes you can do transfer your place to another workshop of equal value if more than 7 days notice is given in writing.
As per the cancellation and refunds policy, with les than 7 days notice it becomes more difficult to fill your space, there fore only 50% of your workshop fee is available but can also be reallocated towards another workshop, where the balance would need to be paid on any new bookings if there was a financial deficit from the cancelled workshop to the new workshop.
With less than 48 hours notice, it would be almost impossible to replace your workshop space, therefore no refund is available in this instance. However, rebooking is very welcomed as you may still have the desire to learn more about photography. In the case of giving less than 48 hours notice, the full booking fee would be required if rebooking on to another workshop.
How should I prepare for the workshop?
Ensure the batteries for your camera are fully charged.
Transfer any existing photographs on your memory cards to a hard drive or computer and then format your ad cards if you know how. If not, this can be taught on the workshop.
Make sure you’ve got all the equipment you think you will need. Try to travel as light as possible.
Keep an eye on the weather and dress appropriately.
Check details of the location and consider what type of footwear would be suitable.
Keep an eye out for an email from me approximately one week prior to the workshop. If you haven’t had one within 7 days of the start date, please check your spam folders or get in touch with me to ensure correct contact details.
